What is racism? By definition racism is the prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one s own race is superior. This is a big issue in America today. Many Americans believe that racism is over in this country because it had gone through a civil rights revolution but those people are more than wrong. Some people believe that just because America went through a civil rights movement that all racism is gone. That everything was solved. The only thing that the civil rights movement did were hid the problem. It never went always people just stopped thinking about it. Today racism isn’t like it was back in the 60’s. We aren’t segregated. We don’t force people of color to use different bathrooms and sit in the back of the bus. Modern day racism is more structured racism. For example, black people don’t get the same treatment as white people. â€Å"Doctors in the united states of America are more likely to provide pain medication to white people than they are to black people, even when they present the same symptoms as describe similar levels of pain.† (Globe Mail) Why is that white people are getting an upper advantage over back people or people of color. These doctors are probably not doing this on purpose; they may not even realize that they are doing it. Racism is a hard topic to talk about.
